I’ve been back home a few days now from a week spent birding on the coast of Loire-Atlantique with friends from the LATT (Loire Atlantique Twitch Team). With Aymeric, Ant, Julien and Willy we scoured the bushes around Pen Bron, the saltpans of Guerande and Mesquer and all around Le Croisic. We did manage to turn up quite a few Yellow-browed Warblers, Ring Ouzels, a Lapland Bunting and a late Wood Sandpiper but no mega, and definitely no Siberian Accentor, despite the promising easterly winds and the plethora of good birds elsewhere in Europe. Maybe something really good will turn up there in the next few weeks because the habitats are great and generally fairly undisturbed apart from the weekends at least. Never managed to get a shot of any of the Yellow-broweds so here’s a selection of other stuff.
